Don’t Blog Without Spreading Your RSS Feed

By Published On: October 7th, 2010

Ask any SEO guru and they will tell you that one of the most important components of any optimization strategy is blogging.  Blogging is important for a variety of reasons including:

  • The more content you have online the more keywords you have tied to your business.  If your content is directly related to your industry, then your online reach will expand while remaining relevant for you.
  • Believe it or not, people actually read blogs – if they are well written.
  • Blogging on a regular basis is the best way to make sure your site constantly has new content. Google and friends largely equate “relevant” with “current”.

Of course, having a blog does not automatically lead to traffic.  You’ll face the same issues in attracting traffic on a blog that you do on a traditional website.  That is where you will want to tap into the journalist / publisher in you.  The most effective way to spread the word – or publish – your blog is to create and submit an RSS feed to the literally hundreds of online distributors of blog content.  An RSS feed is analogous to a single channel news wire feed – just like in those old black and white movies about the fast-talking reporter trying to make the first page.

While there are literally hundreds of sites that allow you to submit an RSS feed, here are a few to get you started:
